It's Chicken Drop Time! (Sorry mom)
Mixed Media Monday
CHICKEN DROP has arrived! WHOOHOO!
I’m rewriting my newsletter this morning at 7am. Why? Because I start every day reading a quote and quietly meditating. Today’s quote?
What are you going to do with your one wild and precious life? (Mary Oliver)
Seriously? Gulp. Paint chickens? Really?
That gave me a little bit to meditate about. I love painting for a variety of reasons. One is the power of art beyond the paintbrush. Friendship. Family. Creativity. Laughter. Love. Slowing Down. Learning.
What I’m Grateful For
I started my happy chicken paintings on top of paintings a good friend gave me to reuse. I thought of her the whole time. (Thanks Barbara!) These chickens have great karma.
And my whole family became involved in the process. They helped me choose the top 20. Chicken riddles and chicken puns sprinkled laughter throughout Thanksgiving. My adult kids started doodling chickens. The chickens became great stacking blocks for little Matilda, a family friend. We were graced with the happy chickens all around us. Gotta admit, I’m going to miss them.

Soul moment
My happy chickens are all named after old family names. Truly. My mom made it clearly known she was waiting for a great grandchild to be named Pinkas or Hyman. Sorry mom. So far these names have only been given to chickens.
My dad shared an anthology of all ancestors and descendants of Milton Elmer Trumbull. Who knew how handy it would become.
Meet the happy chickens
So here we are: It’s a CHICKEN DROP time! Please hop on over to this link to meet them all. There’s Elmer & Gertrude & Freelove & Almira & Elkie. Yes, I’m not making these names up! Each are ready to fly the coop and find a new home. It’s time! I’ll even pay the adoption cost (aka shipping).
Thanks for supporting my chicken habit! Happy December! Happy Monday!
With love, gratitude and a heartfelt thanks,
Jessica

Hi Jessica!
I can't wait to have your happy chicken "Zephie" join my brood. Thank you! Your words and paintings—and back to basics orchard life!—are an inspiration throughout the year. So very glad I met you. :)
